Palcut smooths and increases uptime
Palcut introduces a smoothing module for its sheet dispenser

Interlayer sheets for palletisation are gaining momentum these days. The sheets are cut from a roll, placed between products on the pallet, and keep the products stable and protected during transport. With heavy paper grades in particular, however, there are tensions in the innermost coils of the paper roll. This can result in bent sheets, which the packer robot has difficulty in picking up.
Smooth sheets minimise waste
Palcut introduces a smoothing solution for its fully-automated sheet dispenser to tackle this problem. Palcut Smoother is particularly relevant in industries that use interlayer sheets in extra-strong paper grades, such as those used for stacking spring water on pallets.
Palcut Smoother is a patented solution that removes tension from sheets in paper grades of 250g/m2 or above. With this solution, the cut sheets lie completely flat on the collection table, ready for the packer robot. This enables all the paper on the roll to be utilised, and waste is reduced by 4-7 %, depending on the grammage of the paper.
“With Palcut Smoother, all the paper on the roll is utilised for cut interlayer sheets. It reduces the environmental impact and simultaneously increases the uptime of the packing line,” says Lars Østergaard Jonasen, product manager at Palcut A/S.
The Palcut Smoother module can be ordered together with new Palcut sheet dispensers, or retrofitted to existing Palcut systems. The solution has already been installed at the Danish Aqua d’Or (the Danone group) and the Norwegian PetPack Drikker, amongst others.
